Thanks, Sunny. I think your approach is a good one. And I HAVE asked — but it seems that I don’t fit the bill…

I am still on my church’s “Worship Committee” and I will still speak out, give ideas and find gratification in seeing the ideas come to fruition through others. Jesus said that if we do our works for the admiration of people, that…[Read more]

To be perfectly honest, I find myself looking for excuses that Jesus didn’t mean this literally…. or that my situation is different… or that it will hurt too much and I’ll be told I’m silly… or that I’ll be rejected. Again, to be frank, I look at this through the lens of the “letter of […]

I don’t have a “team”, but I think taking an old song (christian or otherwise) and doing some extemporaneous things with it would be fun… The possibilities are limitless… and the sillier the better. Laughter, I hear, is a good medicine!!!

Jessie, Thank you for your help. I don’t know how I missed it for so long. At any rate, “the guitar player” & I will be leading tonight. It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything like this, but I’m feeling good about it. The Lord always comes through — even when I’m behaving like a […]

I will be leading a time of song at our Wednesday evening meal on September 7. Our choir director resigned unexpectedly recently and there are a lot of “feelings” the church is working through. I had accepted responsibility for this time of song before the resignation and now it feels odd to me to be […]

Unfortunately, there was some confusion and the regular song director was actually back from vacation. I had emailed everyone who was going to lead with me and included other church/music leaders. When he opened one of the emails, it led him to believe I simply wanted to know if he would be there. He emailed me that he would & that he would be…[Read more]

Thanks for the reply, Rachel. It’s good advice…

I want to do what God wants. Truly. But I’m very discouraged and tired of the battle that is going on in my heart.

I feel like a puzzle has been laid out before me — and it’s very hard for me to discern which piece goes where. If I didn’t think that God MIGHT want to use me, I’d gladly sit…[Read more]

    • Hi Linda, I hope this helps. If you feel God wants to use you, maybe it is time to step forward, but with an attitude of service. Don’t make an issue out of “How come nobody ever asks me?’ Just let it be known that you feel it is time for you to move forward, and that you would like to serve as a worship leader. Yes, there is a time to be silent…[Read more]

  • I will be given an opportunity to lead worship on Sunday morning, July 31. Please pray for me. Even if I am not chosen to lead-up the ”worship leaders”, I want to lead our congregation to the Lord in worship. In reality, about all we’ve seen done at our church is song directing… I am praying for more than that…

    • I was praying for you that you would lead the congregation right in to the throne room… that you would be transparent and that Jesus and HIS love would capture the hearts of many of those in the congregation! Let us know how it went!!! Blessings!

Hi, Dawn! I haven’t really participated in very much here except for the “free” stuff. Right now I’m sort of in limbo about being part of a contemporary worship group. But if God allows me to move forward, I intend to participate more fully. Everything I’ve seen so far has been excellent!

I wish you success in following God’s will for your…[Read more]

  • @jcnowman Thanks for the reply. I guess “overwhelmed” is more what I feel more than anything. I’ve played piano for over 50 years, although I’ve not had a lot of “formal training”… I can read and play music by note and by ear. I have a Roland, which I bought new around 1998 or 1999. I […]

  • I’m trying to transition from piano to playing a keyboard… (This is about the 3rd attempt…) Does anyone have any ideas to start off? I do okay, but mostly I get overwhelmed at all my “new” instrument is able to do… I’m also not very confident about my ability to hear different sounds…

  • Women and assertiveness — Do most of you wait to be asked to do something or do you go and offer your services? I noted that last Sunday, when our usual music director was gone for vacation, the pastor led the entire service. I sat there “imagining” how I would have led the music and wondering why I wasn’t asked — or, at least, why one of the…[Read more]

I decided to bring my happiness wherever I went. I stopped asking why questions. Those are not for us to figure out. Clif, I’m not sure what you mean by saying you’re not very good with the computer. But if you’re referring to getting around on this website, it may not be just you… (I’m praying we both get better on that count!!)

  • Wow! Nice work, Wynter. I would love to be able to do something like this at our church. Maybe a door will open…

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Thought I’d check in and vent a bit…
