Thought I’d check in and vent a bit…

It’s been weeks since I was contacted regarding a contemporary service our church wants to begin… I had no idea how long something could bounce around from committee to committee… But there’s another meeting set for July something-or-another that I will be attending and would really appreciate some prayers.

I was called into the ministry when I was a child… but, being a woman in a denomination where we were only allowed to be “drones”, I had no encouragement. And since I was not called to be an overseas missionary, I simply served as laity. Pianist, soloist, accompanist, keyboard player in a contemporary group, choir member, trio member, ensemble member, Sunday School teacher, Women’s Ministry president, children’s choir director, lay speaker in a denomination that allows women to be pastors and preachers…(however, I still find that when someone is needed to speak, it’s a man who is called upon…), church secretary…

I don’t want to be bitter, but it’s getting harder and harder to know that no matter how hard I try, I will probably never be “good enough” or “educated enough” or “flashy enough” or “man enough” to what I feel like God has prepared me to do.

No wonder I was much happier feeling like it’s finally time to “retire” from what feels like stepping aside from the endless competition to let someone else take the lead…

I guess what got me going THIS TIME was yesterday’s sermon “begging” people to step up and do their part…
